About Us
Winfield and his brother Stephen joined forces and decided they would use their technical and engineering experience to open Parsons Cabinetry as a Sub-chapter S corporation in 1987. The company quickly grew to several employees and the main manufacturing operation took shape in Paterson, NJ. The company started building custom kitchens, vanities, offices, entertainment centers, and wall units early on and continue to produce products of the highest quality today
From those early years, the company has changed and grown to expand to residential and commercial custom cabinetry, as far reaching as California. Winfield’s (1956-2018) vision endures under the leadership of Tracy Parsons (Winfield’s wife) and brother Stephen Parsons, and with the addition of many talented team members, including son Daniel Parsons, and indispensable Mark McCarthy.
We have always prided ourselves with providing the highest quality, handcrafted custom cabinetry possible using the finest materials to our discerning clientele. We are proud of our service and dedication to our profession and clients, and our desire is to exceed expectations – and we do. All team members take great pride in the final product, and the unparalleled client care we offer – which continues long after the project is complete.
Parsons Cabinetry created its own brand of cabinets – each cabinet is individually hand-made in our Paterson production facility to the exact specifications for each project using only North American wood products. We start with raw lumber where each part is individually milled, formed and assembled to create fine cabinets and furniture of the highest caliber by dedicated craftsmen.
Over the 35+ years of service to our community, we enjoy the opportunity to work collaboratively with other design professionals in conjunction with the homeowners. We truly believe a collaborative effort will result in a superior end-product that enhances and satisfies the homeowner for years to come.
Parsons Cabinetry began in the early 1980s when a young college professor of Industrial Engineering and Technology, Winfield Parsons (1956-2018), used his education and time between semesters helping a local cabinetmaker. He then enlisted his talented brother Stephen Parsons to also work in the trade, together learning best practices of small-scale custom cabinet production.
Working with mostly second-hand machinery and tools, literally out of the garage at Winfield’s Montclair home, Parsons Cabinetry was born. The company quickly grew as its personal attention to detail met the demand for specialized custom cabinetry necessary for renovation work in wonky old homes. We outgrew the garage, acquired new, modern equipment, hired talented craftsmen and relocated to an old 1800’s munitions factory in nearby South Paterson. Winfield’s wife Tracy, armed with a degree in Industrial Technology, came aboard in the early years to further help the thriving business and to handle drawings and design, increasing responsibilities as the years went on. Upon Winfield’s passing in 2018, Tracy joined her brother-in-law Stephen as co-principal and today they still run the business from the same 12,000 square foot shop on the 4 th floor of that historic munitions factory. When clients ask if something we are making will fit into their house, we laugh knowing if our custom work fits into the old building’s freight lift it will fit in the client’s home!
The future of Parsons Cabinetry is as bright as its past is interesting. The next generation of Parsons, Winfield and Tracy’s son Danny, joined the family business in 2017 and the multi-talented Production Manager Mark McCarthy is omnipresent on all projects.
Through hard work, determination, skill and talent, Parsons Cabinetry has persevered since its founding, never wavering from our fundamental philosophy. We stand behind our product and know its quality speaks for itself. We look toward the future in continuing to provide superior custom cabinets with unparalleled service – our legacy endures with the new generation continuing the prideful work of the founders.
